South African Flame

A bold garden built around gathering, warmth and changing light.

Designed as a place to gather, sit and enjoy, this striking garden centres around a sunken circular boma, with strong curves flowing outward through the landscape. Proteas and South African-inspired planting reinforce the theme, while app-controlled lighting adds depth and creates a calm atmosphere after dark.

Bluestone crazy paving connects the house to the boma, while the render and pergola use a dynamic paint that changes character with the light, shifting from greys in the morning through purples at twilight and warmer browns in the evening. OB hardwood and Corten steel screening provide privacy from neighbouring properties while continuing the warm, earthy palette throughout the garden.
